The PADI self reliant diver course
Can I go diving by my self? Who is this course for? Well the answer is yes, but it is not for everyone. First up, have a look at a blog I wrote about the PADI solo diver course which you can find here and here is an article written by the Dutch Mermaid for PADI themselves.
There are some pre-requisites you need before you can enrol:
Minimum of 100 logged dives
PADI advanced certification or equivalent.
The theory part of this course is a combinations of some self study and theory presentation by your PADI instructor, covering topics such as self rescue, extra dive equipment, dive planning and management of diver emergencies. We will also cover the view of solo diving and the importance and differences of buddy teams.
The PADI self reliant diver course consists of three training dives which we complete in one day on the beautiful Agincourt reef system off Port Douglas. Transport from Cairns is available at no surcharge. The three training dives will get you comfortable with the extra equipment, such as the redundant air supply, switching air supply underwater, launching a SMB, buoyancy workshops and how to calculate your air supply amongst other skills.
What is the cost?
Included in your course fee are:
All learning materials
All equipment, including use of redundant air system
Transport from Cairns
Reef trip, including three training dives
Total price is $550
